The mixing stage of a recording, otherwise known as “mixdown”, is the stage where multiple audio tracks are essentially combined into, in most cases, a 2-channel stereo audio track. The process includes adjustment of signal levels, stereo panning positioning and application of various effects (e.g. EQ, compression, reverb, delay, modulation).
What is Mastering?
Mastering is the final stage of the complete production process. In essence, it is the stage where the final “polish” is added to the completed mix, preparing your music for commercial, radio and digital distribution.
